Hervey Bay is both the name of the bay of water between Fraser Island and the mainland, the Fraser Coast, as of the city. It is located at Queensland’s East coast, between Maryborough and Bundaberg.
Off shore there is Fraser Island, the world’s largest sand island, 123 km long by 15 km wide. It is almost entirely covered by dense rain forest and is listed World Heritage.

North of Hervey Bay the southern most extensions of the Great Barrier Reef start, no doubt one of the most exciting natural wonders of the world. Over 2'300 km it stretches along the coast up to the most northern tip of Queensland.

Beaches:
You will find all the beaches of Hervey Bay along Esplanade from Urangan, through Torquay to Scarness. Due to Fraser Island off shore there is no big surf, but gradually deepening water allows for safe swimming and a variety of water sports facilities.
Along the various beach sections, mainly in Torquay und Scarness you may rent all you need for water sports: catamaran, canoe, surf ski or sailboard to fishing boats complete with tackle.
All along the beaches there are fresh water showers.
Climate: Hervey Bay has a very moderate climate with average temperatures of about 28º C in summer and 20º C in winter.
